Marie was named after George Kemp, Joseph and Harriet's youngest child. He served in the Revolutionary War and was also one of the minute men in the Battle of Lexington. They had eight children, all presumed to be born in Massachusetts. The house was placed on a foundation up the steep hill and is still there today.
