A self-proclaimed “elite” dating website has removed around 3,000 members because they were "letting themselves go".
Beautiful describes itself as the “largest internet dating community exclusively for the beautiful” and puts people’s photographs to a members’ vote to decide if they are allowed in.
For some reason people decided that I was not handsome enough to be part of the community. In my opinion join if you are a '10' and safe your time if you're not a supermodel.
It will hurt your ego if the voters decide that you are not pretty or handsome enough.
I admit that the members from Korea, Japan are really good looking. Surprisingly only 30% of the voters liked my profile.
But administrators have now shown that the rigorous 48-hour selection period is not a permanent pass by taking thousands of profiles down, mainly because of weight gain and “graceless ageing”.
Genevieve Hodge, who founded the website with her husband Greg, said: “This may sound harsh, and it is the most difficult part of managing the business.“We take no pleasure in removing members, but it is a necessary evil in order to maintain the beautiful community and our prized business model.”Her husband claimed the website had been “kind” in breaking the news to ditched people with emails encouraging them to apply again when they are “back looking their best”.
This is a real scam, for over 10 months dey took 20/month of the visa card!!! I just signed up, it takes 2 days until people vote your picture and decide if they let you in. I have joined Beautifulpeople and uploaded my best pics.
I guess it all comes down to the membership levels in the area your in and this just so happens to be better for me. Then I tried another pic, still voted out, then a final one probably the least flattering of all and was voted in with a high rating again. Of course personality and other traits not accounted for. They kinda look like uglier versions of Seth Rogen, Steve Buscemi, Dj Qualls.
The website has attracted considerable controversy in the media and much criticism since its inception due to its exclusive business model of only allowing perceived attractive men and women to join the dating community.
Managing Director of Beautiful People Greg Hodge states that people were tired of using mainstream online dating sites when looking for an attractive partner, since they allow anyone to join and have mediocre or non-existent filters for finding attractive people.
I've switched over to We Just now and that is looking more promising already. First time I uploaded a recent pic that on the barometer was given a rating of around 98%. A few months later I was single again so rejoined, uploaded the same pic as previously and was voted "out" rating was like 20%. I would say most people are average to slightly above average looking.
Shameless ppl tryna take profit of ppl and steal their opinion they should be banned of the net! I know a few people who have found love on Beautiful People but it has not happened for me im afraid.
Beautiful People launched a satirical campaign in support of same-sex marriage in the United States in June 2012 by producing images using look a likes.
The images depicted Michele Bachmann marrying Sarah Palin and Donald Trump marrying Mitt Romney with President Barack Obama as the priest.
